KENNETH J. BARRISH
received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois
at Urbana-Champaign in 1985 and his law degree from DePaul University,
College of Law in 1988. He is admitted to practice in the State
of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Northern
District of Illinois, the United States Court of Appeals for the
Seventh Circuit and the United States District Court for the Northern
District of Indiana. He is a member of the American Bar Association,
Environmental Section, as well as a member of the Chicago and
Illinois Bar Associations. He is also a member of the Defense
Research Institute. He is an Arbitrator for the Circuit Court
of Cook County, Illinois Mandatory Arbitration Program, and has
also served as an Arbitrator for the National Association of Securities
Dealers.
Mr. Barrish has extensive experience in environmental litigation,
toxic tort litigation, mass tort litigation, construction litigation,
commercial litigation, product liability litigation, workers’
compensation law, employment litigation, employers’ liability,
defamation, contract disputes, premises liability, medical malpractice,
automobile litigation, and appellate practice.
He is the co-author of a case law supplement on employment law
for a seminar given in the Spring of 1998 by the National Business
Institute entitled: Employee Leave Rights Under State/Federal
Law, What Every Illinois Employer Needs to Know. He is the co-author
of a handbook for a seminar he gave in the Winter of 2003 entitled:
Mold and Silicosis Litigation in Illinois: A Defense Perspective.
He is the author of a handbook for a seminar he gave in the Winter
of 2004 entitled: Premises Liability and Mold Litigation and Recent
Legal Developments: A Defense Perspective. He is the author of
a handbook for a seminar he gave in the Summer of 2004 entitled:
Asbestos Litigation in Illinois: Defending the Employer. He has
also spoke at a seminar in the Summer of 2004 by Sterling Education
Services entitled “Water Intrusion and Toxic Mold Claims
in Illinois.” He has also given seminars on various topics
in workers’ compensation law.
His reported appellate court cases include: Henderson v. Jones
Brothers Construction Corporation, 234 Ill. App. 3d 871, 602 N.E.
2d 16 (1st Dist. 1992); and American States Insurance Company
v. Marshall Bailey, et. al., 285 Ill. App. 3d 687, 675 N.E. 2d
939 (1st Dist. 1996). Mr. Barrish also successfully handled the
appeal in Kyles v. McCoy Security Inc., a non-published opinion
in the year 2000 before the United States Court of Appeals for
the Seventh Circuit.
