GONZALEZ
concentrates her practice on the complex civil litigation field
of insurance coverage. She regularly represents insurance companies
counseling and litigating the resolution of claims under various
lines of coverage and insurance policies. Over the years, these
claims have included companies’ requests for coverage for
claims of personal injury, construction injury, construction defect,
intellectual property and professional liability claims. These claims
have also included Fortune 500 companies’ requests for coverage
for mass tort liabilities such as multi-site environmental remediation,
asbestos, tobacco, and breast implants claims. She also handles
insurance defense matters such as representing policyholders through
product liability, personal injury, construction injury and construction
defect claims.
Ms. Gonzalez received her undergraduate degree from the University
of Michigan in 1991 and her law degree from the DePaul University,
College of Law in 1994. She is admitted to practice in the State
of Illinois and in the United States District Courts for the Northern,
Central and Southern Districts of Illinois.
Ms. Gonzalez has moderated and spoken at various conferences on
various topics, including: coverage issues for intellectual property
claims; discovery and pleadings issues for coverage litigation;
excess coverage issues; and Year 2000 claims. She is also the co-author
of A Primer on Contemporary Umbrella & Excess Insurance Issues,
Glasser Legal Works 8th Annual Institute, Contemporary Reinsurance
and Excess Insurance Issues, 1998.
Ms. Gonzalez was named to the 2004 list of “40 Attorneys Under
40 to Watch in Illinois” as compiled by the Law Bulletin Publishing
Company. She is currently serving as the 2005/2006 President of
the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois. She is also an active
member of the Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association,
and the insurance industry group previously known as MECA and now
known as FETTI (the National Forum for Environmental and Toxic Tort
Issues). |
