Mike concentrates his practice in all aspects of insurance coverage law as well as counseling on business and commercial defense matters. He has successfully litigated complex matters on behalf of insurance carriers, corporations, financial institutions, regional businesses, municipalities and government entities, and the company owners, officers and directors.
Mike’s insurance coverage practice involves evaluating first- and third-party coverage issues, handling insurance coverage litigation and defending insurers in bad faith lawsuits. He proactively minimizes the risk or validity of bad faith claims by implementing risk management strategies to prevent such claims and then mounting an aggressive and thorough defense when they are asserted.
Mike is a current member of Litchfield Cavo LLP’s COVID-19 Resource Team. He has extensive experience analyzing first- and third-party coverage issues related to COVID-19 claims including those related to business interruption. His practice includes advising carriers on proper claims handling practices and minimizing potential exposure related to COVID-19 claims.
Mike advises insurers on the broad scope of necessary coverages enabling them to effectively navigate the legal landscape presented in complex and novel claims. He analyzes coverage and advises clients when navigating the increasingly dangerous extra-contractual environment, including counseling on insurance policies for areas such as first- and third party, primary and excess, commercial property, life, and business risk.
