Catherine focuses her practice on general commercial business litigation matters and employment and labor claims and defends employers in cases against wrongful termination, retaliation and sexual harassment. As a defense attorney, Catherine has appeared before the Labor Commissioner’s Office and obtained favorable results for wage and hour disputes on behalf of trucking and transit companies, restaurant and hospitality institutions, and casino clients.
Prior to joining Litchfield Cavo LLP, Catherine was an associate at a defense firm in Long Beach, California where she gained extensive experience defending complex personal injury cases that often involved catastrophic injuries and wrongful death.
While attending the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, Catherine was a legal extern to the Honorable Stephen L. Johnson, United States Bankruptcy Court, and was Senior Articles Editor for the UC Hastings Business Law Journal.
- Obtained a Writ of Mandamus for industrial packaging tape manufacturer client in an employment action wherein client was sued by a former employee for breach of contract and improper handling of her ERISA benefits; the California Court of Appeal – Second Appellate District, Division Four overturned the Superior Court of Los Angeles County ruling and granted Motion for Summary Judgment dismissing the case in its entirety
- Solo chaired a multi-day trial and obtained a defense verdict in an unlimited jury trial in which liability for an automobile collision was disputed; successfully argued on behalf of client to be awarded costs
