Murphy’s practice primarily consists of insurance defense and commercial litigation in both state and federal courts, including trials and appeals. He handles matters in the areas of motor vehicle liability, premises liability and construction defect litigation. Murphy’s representative experience includes insurance companies, individual insureds and commercial insureds, as well as both small and large companies. He has handled numerous jury trials, and even more bench trials to verdict as first chair, in addition to managing multi-jurisdictional litigation.

Murphy is a diplomat of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy Basic and Advanced Trial Schools, and he earned his law degree at Tulane University Law School where he clerked at a financial institution and a mid-sized local New Orleans firm.

Representative Experience

  • Oversaw and managed multi-jurisdictional litigation arising from an explosion at a sugar refinery in Savanah, Georgia, resulting in approximately 14 deaths and 50 suits in state and federal courts throughout Georgia.
  • Oversaw and managed multi-jurisdictional litigation involving more than 50 suits in state and federal courts throughout Montana, Maryland and Delaware, wherein Plaintiffs’ claimed that an insurance client that conducted risk engineering at an asbestos mine should have warned workers about the dangers of asbestos exposure.
