Illinois Attorneys Present at Claims Association of Greater Chicago’s Spring 2021 Seminar

Chicago partner Anita S. Johnson and attorney Alexis E. Maimonis will present at the Claims Association of Greater Chicago’s Spring Seminar on Thursday, April 22. The topic of this year’s virtual seminar is “COVID, the Impact it’s Having on Workers’ Compensation and Liability Claims.”

During the annually held event, Alexis and Anita will share how COVID-19 is affecting different types of claims in the State of Illinois. Alexis will discuss workers’ compensation claims and Anita will cover general liability. The seminar will conclude with a discussion where both attorneys and other panelists from legal, medical and risk management industries will speak on the topic, “COVID-19 and its Impact on Defending Workers’ Compensation Claims and General Liability Claims in Illinois.”

The Claims Association of Greater Chicago is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of professional ethics and education in the field of insurance claims and related businesses in the Chicago Metropolitan area. Members include insurance carriers, self-insureds, third-party administrators, attorneys, risk managers, physicians, medical vendors, nurse case managers and other insurance industry professionals.

Alexis defends and counsels clients on workers’ compensation claims, general liability matters and employment liability issues. She has appeared at the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, Illinois Circuit Courts, Illinois Appellate Court and the Federal Court’s Seventh Circuit. Alexis has presented at seminars on various topics pertaining to workers’ compensation and overlapping general liability and employment liability issues.

Anita focuses her practice on workers’ compensation issues. Her practice also includes civil litigation with an emphasis on employment litigation, third-party litigation, retaliatory discharge and lien prevention. Anita advises employers with analysis of issues of insurance coverage, independent contractor status, indemnity agreements and other construction and transportation concerns as well as claims handling and audits, risk analysis and policy drafting.
