Litchfield Cavo Attorneys Attend the 34th Annual National Conference on Equine Law
Litchfield Cavo attorneys Anita S. Johnson and Jordan A. Willette, and the Firm’s business development manager Donna Baker, attended the 34th Annual National Conference on Equine Law in Lexington, Kentucky on May 1-2, 2019. As representatives of our Firm and horse enthusiasts, Anita, Jordan and Donna participated in the conference’s two-day schedule of events and brought back key industry knowledge on topics such as: equine syndicates and SEC rules, labor and employment rules pertaining to foreign persons doing equine activities in the US, premises liability issues for real estate, easements and equine clinics, defending medication cases before administrative agencies, and equine law legal ethics.
While in Lexington, they also visited a well-known horse breeding farm that has raised or sold more than 100 Grade 1 stakes winners.
This equine law conference, held annually, attracts horse enthusiasts as well as attorneys who counsel, represent or litigate on behalf of buyers, sellers, breeders, brokers, owners and others involved with the horse industry. This year, participants included representatives from more than 30 states and several foreign countries who come to the national conference to learn critical updates on laws affecting the horse industry such as annual legislative, regulatory and tax laws, equine medication and contamination, and horse owner disputes in the equine industry.
The conference is presented by the University of Kentucky College of Law, and offers continuing legal education credits for attorneys. For more information about the conference, please visit their website.
