New York Attorney Hosts Conference About AI in the Courtroom

New York City attorney Abbye L. Lawrence hosted and participated in “Judicial AI Forum: 360 Degree View on AI in the Courtroom,” a virtual workshop addressing AI in the court and the legislative, court, practitioner and Community perspectives. During the session panelists discussed AI and how it is shaping courtroom practices and the broader legal system. Topics included streamlining legal research and discovery, automating document management and addressing ethical concerns around data privacy and algorithm transparency. The session also explored incorporating AI-assisted tools in courtroom decision-making and the importance of promoting fairness through bias detection.

In addition to Litchfield Cavo attorney Abbye Lawrence, panelists included a New York Assembly member, a administrative civil court judge, and a Manhattan vice chair and district leader. The event moderator was a social justice advocate and public safety chair for Manhattan community board.

Abbye concentrates her practice in the area of construction liability and has experience litigating matters that include premises liability, New York Labor Law, motor vehicle accidents and insurance coverage.
