New York Attorneys to Present on Contractual and Common Law Indemnity in Tort Actions

New York City attorneys Dana M. Catanzaro and Morgan E. Mueller will present in the upcoming webinar, “Untangling the Mess: How to Make Sense of Contractual and Common Law Indemnity in Tort Actions” hosted by the New York County Lawyers Association’s Continuing Legal Education Institute on Wednesday, July 21. Throughout the presentation, panelists will analyze common law and contractual indemnification claims, review New York’s General Obligations Law and its implications on contractual indemnification, and discuss hypothetical scenarios to illustrate the nuances and developments in case law in these areas.

Joining Dana and Morgan during the panel discussion is the Honorable Suzanne Adams of the New York County Supreme Court. The webinar will be moderated by the Honorable Nicholas Moyne of the Criminal Court of the City of New York in New York County, also Chair of New York County Lawyers Association’s Civil Court Practice Session. The two-hour webinar offers 2.5 Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits (skills – New York credits; general – New Jersey credits). Participants include attorneys and judges.

The New York County Lawyers Association is a county bar association that operates exclusively for charitable and educational purposes with the objective of promoting the public interest by supporting the administration of justice and reforms, ensuring access to justice for all, and encouraging diversity throughout the entire legal profession. The Association is certified as an accredited provider of CLE in the states of New York and New Jersey, and offers several opportunities for attorneys to satisfy their educational needs and MCLE requirements.

Dana focuses her defense practice on litigating high exposure construction cases including those involving accidents and property damage. She has obtained successful results for her clients via risk transfer efforts, dispositive motion practice, and settlements at mediation and trial. Dana has argued appeals at the state appellate level as well. In addition to her legal practice, Dana is the current president of the Columbian Lawyers Association, First Judicial Department and leads their collaborative CLE program. Furthermore, she is a proud member of the Firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and is an active community and nonprofit volunteer.

Morgan concentrates her legal practice on defending construction liability claims, particularly those arising from the New York State Labor Law. She has extensive experience with all aspects of litigation from inception to pre-trial, and also has represented clients in general liability, insurance coverage, property damage, products liability and commercial litigation matters.
