Jessica brings a wealth of experience to Litchfield Cavo LLP’s Massachusetts office with a legal career spanning more than a decade in public defense. She focuses her current law practice in the areas of general liability, construction liability, products liability, non-medical professional liability, and employment and labor law.

Jessica previously served as a trial attorney at a Massachusetts state agency that provides legal representation to local indigent individuals, where she handled complex criminal cases and achieved a notable success rate in jury trials. During this time, she crafted comprehensive legal memoranda at both the trial and appellate levels, developed defense strategies through client and witness interviews, gained experience conducting voir dire and provided unwavering representation from arraignment through jury trial.

In addition to her trial background, Jessica has significant experience in civil litigation, particularly in the area of involuntary commitment hearings under MGL ch. 123 s. 35. She was a trailblazer in initiating appeals for civil decisions and trained criminal defense attorneys statewide on litigating specialized civil, court-appointed matters. Jessica has also taught Massachusetts continuing legal education courses on the topics of litigation and appeals.

  • Secured a favorable result in Massachusetts Appeals Court after the judge ruled to overturn the respondent’s commitment pursuant to M.G.L. ch. 123 s. 35 in the Matter of A.M., 94 Mass. App. Ct. 399 (2018).
  • Secured a not guilty verdict at jury trial for a client accused of stealing items from their workplace, despite eyewitness testimony and implicating surveillance video.
  • Secured a not guilty verdict at jury trial for a client accused of assaulting a police officer, despite the officer’s testimony regarding the alleged crime.
