Illinois Partner Pat Ruberry Defends Credit Union in Indiana Court of Appeals

Chicago partner Patrick J. Ruberry successfully defended a credit union client against claims of breach of the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), common law negligence, breach of warranties and federal statutory law in an Indiana appellate matter. In this case, it is alleged that our client allowed one of the plaintiffs’ employees to embezzle more than $500,000 using more than 105 fraudulently endorsed checks.

Pat successfully convinced the Indiana Court of Appeals to affirm the judgment in favor of our client, and the court ruled that the credit union did not owe the plaintiff companies any duty.
