Ashley concentrates her legal practice in the areas of general liability, insurance coverage, insurance liability, employment and labor law, and real estate. She also handles medical and non-medical malpractice defense. Ashley represents insurers, businesses, premises owners and employers in complex personal injury and insurance matters. She manages cases from inception through resolution including discovery, depositions, motion practice, pre-trial hearings and settlement negotiations.
Before joining Litchfield Cavo LLP, Ashley defended clients in toxic exposure cases across multiple jurisdictions. Previously, she served as an assistant corporation counsel II for a municipality client. During this time, Ashley provided legal advice and counseling to the municipality on a wide range of labor and employment law matters, including but not limited to discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination wage and hour disputes, and employment contracts. Additionally, she served as an assistant attorney general with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office where she represented the Illinois Department of Corrections. In this role, she litigated Section 1983 cases in both state and federal court, including excessive force and inadequate medical treatment.
Practices
- Obtained a favorable verdict on behalf of correctional officer clients in a case involving inadequate medical treatment and cell conditions; the court agreed and ruled in favor of clients.
- Obtained a favorable verdict on behalf of police department client in a case involving city residency; the court agreed and ruled in favor of our client, and terminated the officer for failing to reside within the city.
