John has nearly two decades of experience representing businesses and individuals in a variety of litigation matters. He currently focuses on commercial matters with an emphasis on insurance defense, construction defects and employment defense cases.
Previously, John ran a small litigation department and represented clients in arbitration and mediation. As lead counsel, he successfully pursued False Claims Act (FCA) claims and patent infringement litigation and defended Utah businesses in wrongful termination litigation. John also represented businesses in disputes involving embezzlement and theft of materials by employees, as well as motor vehicle accidents in arbitration, Utah state courts and the United States District Court for the District of Utah.
John has a passion for the complexity and challenge of trial work and excels at formulating strategies for complex commercial matters.
Practices
- Represented a patent holder in patent infringement litigation across multiple jurisdictions, ultimately collecting eight-figure settlements from more than two dozen Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) chipmakers.
- Pursued a False Claims Act (FCA) suit involving false statements by chip manufacturers in government negotiations.
- Prevailed on summary judgment in a wrongful termination matter wherein a Utah producer of weight loss supplements was exposed more than seven figures after removing a top producer for the company.
