Connecticut Attorneys Obtain Dismissal of Coverage Claims

Simsbury, Conn. attorneys Michael J. Dugan and Chelsea R. Sousa recently obtained dismissal on behalf of an insurance company client in the Connecticut Superior Court.

In this dispute, the Plaintiff was seeking coverage for property damage and personal injuries under our client’s policy following an auto accident. The Plaintiff alleged that he was an insured under our client’s policy, and was seeking uninsured/underinsured motorist benefits. The demand was in excess of $15,000.

Our attorneys, Mike and Chelsea, contended that our client’s insurance policy was inapplicable because evidence reflected that the Plaintiff was not operating a covered automobile under said policy. Subsequently, all claims against the insurer were dismissed, relieving the insurer from liability.

Mike focuses his defense practice on consumer litigation, environmental matters, healthcare professionals, employment disputes, wage and discrimination claims. He has tried numerous cases to conclusion before judges, juries and arbitrators in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. He has been admitted pro hac vice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the state of Maine for defending lawsuits.

Chelsea’s practice is focused on defending employment, insurance coverage and general liability disputes at the trial and appellate levels.
