Melissa focuses on high liability exposure cases stemming from catastrophic losses concerning significant bodily injury and wrongful death claims that often involve tractor-trailers and/or motorcycles. For more than 20 years, she has built her reputation by representing clients throughout Nevada, California and Arizona, from the pre-litigation evidence preservation stage through resolution.
Melissa’s trucking and transportation clients range from single owner-operators to large corporate fleets. Her construction defect defense experience includes representing developers, general contractors, subcontractors and design professionals in single home cases to complex class actions. Melissa handles products liability cases that comprise serious injuries, amputations, burns and/or permanent disabilities, and also represents real estate brokers and appraisers in employment and professional liability matters from administrative proceedings through litigation. She also defends various corporate entities against claims of property and groundwater contamination, diminution in value, and corresponding medical and health ailments, as well as allegations of exposure to toxic chemicals in occupational hazard contexts. Additionally, Melissa handles negligent and inadequate security claims on behalf of property, business and landowners. This includes corporate entities, individuals, employers and their employees, franchisors and franchisees, casino owners and independent contractors, as well as retail clients that have a national presence.
Melissa has represented clients in jury trials throughout the state of Nevada including obtaining defense verdicts as lead counsel with no second chair. She has successfully obtained dismissals of cases via pre-trial motions in both state and federal courts and has obtained favorable results while representing clients at mediation, arbitration and trial.
