Matthew D. Walker

Matt is an experienced litigator and trial attorney. His practice includes the defense of individuals and businesses, with an emphasis on personal injury, employment, and professional liability litigation. He has defended numerous businesses of all sizes against all manner of personal injury claims, including general negligence, products liability and premises liability claims such as arc fire/electrical shock, printing press and lathe crush injuries, construction accidents, exposure to toxic chemicals, asbestos and mold, sexual abuse/sexual assault claims, Dram Shop, trucking accidents, automobile accidents, falls from heights and fire losses.  He also defends businesses in employment actions based on age, race, and sex discrimination. Matt has had valuable trial experience, successfully defending several cases at trial. He has also briefed and argued appeals in federal appellate courts and various state district courts.

Matt has earned an AV® Preeminent™ rating by Martindale-Hubbell, which is a testament to the fact that his peers rank him at the highest level of professional excellence.

While in law school, Matt taught undergraduate writing courses and served as a volunteer clerk for Magistrate Judge David Blumenthal of the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois. After practicing for several years in Rockford, Illinois, Matt joined Litchfield Cavo in 1999.
