Tokunbo K. Fashawe

Tokunbo concentrates his legal practice in the areas of insurance coverage, insurance litigation, business litigation, and medical and non-medical malpractice defense. He has vast experience representing medical groups, healthcare providers, hospitals and physicians, as well as long-term care facilities. Further, Tokunbo has experience drafting substantive briefs, dispositive motions and contract negotiations.

Tokunbo has prior experience as counsel at a renown academic medical center where he performed legal research and drafted and reviewed represented vendor related contracts on behalf of the medical center. He also drafted and analyzed state and federal legislation, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of potential impacts on the organization. Preceding this experience as counsel, Tokunbo represented businesses in workers’ compensation matters, and assisted healthcare institutions with transactional services contracts as an associate attorney at an insurance defense Firm. Previously, he served as assistant general counsel with the Illinois State Senate where he drafted legislation for the 102nd General Assembly and served as the lead legal staffer for the Insurance Committee, Health Care Access and Availability Committee, and Executive Appointments Committee.

While earning his law degree at Southern Illinois University School of Law, Tokunbo was a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Chief Judge Tanya Walton Pratt of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana at which time he performed research and assisted in drafting the Chief Judge’s judicial opinions.
