Jane is an experienced litigator who centers her practice on third-party insurance defense focusing on general liability and construction defect claims. Her skills in litigation also include employment, contract, fraud, professional liability and deceptive trade practices. She represents small- to medium-size business entities in state and federal district courts.

Jane’s legal career began as a Briefing Attorney to a United States judge in the Southern District of Texas. Over a career spanning more than 25 years, Jane has served as in-house counsel for a specialty construction contractor in the petrochemical industry where she negotiated and drafted contractor agreements with owners. In that role, Jane advised management on employment, insurance, real estate and commercial issues affecting the company. She has also worked as outside counsel for a forensic engineering firm, representing the company in matters involving non-compete agreements, confidentiality and trade secrets litigation.

Jane is known for favorably resolving complex legal issues through integrated analysis, savvy strategy and ability to present complicated information clearly and persuasively to target audiences.

Practices

  • Successfully defended forensic engineering company against all Hurricane Katrina lawsuits brought against company in Mississippi for breach of professional duties, including obtaining affirmance on appeal to the Fifth Circuit of directed verdict in favor of company in only case brought to trial.
  • Obtained dismissal of Fair Housing Act lawsuit against real estate management company on motion to dismiss in United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
