Larry focuses the majority of his practice in healthcare and on medical-related matters while defending nursing homes, nurses, hospitals and physicians. He also has a range of legal experience defending general liability claims including premises, trucking and constructions litigation cases. Larry has more than 30 years of experience as a trial attorney and has successfully tried a number of cases to verdict on behalf of his clients.

Larry has presented to leadership staff at nursing homes and hospitals on the importance of accurate and consistent charting and the use of audit trails. He also has spoken at various association conferences on the topic of timely reporting and investigation of accident claims.

Practices

  • Obtained favorable result on behalf of long-term care facility following allegations of Illinois Nursing Home Care Act violations after Plaintiff’s deceased family member sustained critical injuries; argued that Plaintiff’s counsel could not verify the injuries were proximately caused by negligent care, and secured a substantially reduced Plaintiff’s award.
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of medical facility client wherein Plaintiff claimed she slipped on water at our client’s facility and suffered injuries; successfully established that our client did not receive actual or constructive notice regarding the presence of water on the facility’s floor.
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of defendant healthcare management company in nursing home neglect case involving fall/hip fracture and choking/death.
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of nursing home administrator and management company against claims that a fractured jaw and subsequent surgery contributed to the patient’s death and abundant medical expenses; successfully argued that plaintiff failed to support purported claims
  • Achieved full dismissal of action against a nursing care company for claims that it failed to treat pressure sores, causing death.
  • Defended long term care facility in an ankle infection/pressure injury wrongful death claim; settled case on behalf of client for 10 percent of plaintiff/estate’s initial demand of $550,000.
  • Defended long term care facility in which the decedent bled to death due to rupture of dialysis access; settled case on behalf of client for less than 5 percent of plaintiff/estate’s initial demand of $775,000.
  • Defended long term care facility and individual nursing defendants in choking/pressure injury and wrongful death case; settled case on behalf of client for less than 10 percent of plaintiff/estate’s initial demand of $750,000.
  • Defended long term care facility in a pressure injury/sepsis/wrongful death case; settled case on behalf of client for less than 17 percent of plaintiff/estate’s initial demand of (time sensitive) $1,000,000.
